Drawing with Light
I have been taking pictures for a long time. My perspective evolved, however, when my husband surprised me with an intro to photography class at MICA — Darkroom Photography — for my birthday. I loved the class! Watching my images come to life in the darkroom was pure joy. Before that class, I never thought about what I was doing with the camera or what I was asking the camera to do. After the class ended, lack of time kept me from taking more classes. In my quest to hold on dearly to what I experienced in the darkroom I bought darkroom equipment, not thinking far enough ahead about where exactly I would set up this darkroom in our home. Frustrated and desperate not to lose my momentum, the following birthday I treated myself to as much digital camera as I could afford. So here I am. My Canon in hand, continuing my experiment in photography. I enjoy seeing how light interplays with everything around me and welcome the challenge of drawing with light to capture the image in my mind’s eye. Paraphrasing Sally Mann, I seek art in the everyday and the ordinary.
This blog is about me,
my camera and
the images we produce.
Enjoy.
