Long Walk

Something about this scene appealed to me instantly. Actually, it was the house at the end of the long walkway and the budding trees all aglow in the setting sun that first drew my attention. I stood for several minutes, camera poised, waiting for the three people to get out of the way. I willed them to move more quickly but they just kept sauntering along. Behind me several other groups of tourists were making their way back from long strolls in the gardens of the Palace at Versailles. If I waited for the trio to get out of the frame I’d certainly lose the shot to the masses behind me. So I went for it. In the end, I’m happy with how this turned out. The three figures in the distance enhance the focal point, add a story and make for a more interesting shot.
